On entering the restaurant, visitors are greeted by the aroma of baking pies or Italian flat bread. Pick a booth or table and have a seat while the efficient, courteous staff delivers menus and waits on you. At our operation, "The Customer is King." We accommodate 120 in booths and tables. The bakery and restaurant is housed in a 1930 dairy barn that was retired from use in the late 70’s. The building sat empty, sealed from the weather for future use until 1994, when Joe and Colleen remodeled the interior main floor to what it is today. The restaurant menu is a tasty menu, featuring sandwiches made on fresh baked Foccacia bread, a daily variety of soups, and a healthy selection of salads, including Greek and Caesar salads – (order the Caesar with or without anchovies). The flavors definitely have an Italian bend to them. For six Sundays (late Sept. – Oct.), grilled pork chop dinners are served in lieu of the soup/salad/sandwich menu. We also have a couple of kids choices. Fresh apple pie (crumb top or traditional crust top) or pumpkin pie are always on the menu. With the meal pie and ice cream are just 99 cents. The pies are the Carlson’s own recipes and are made daily from ‘scratch’ in the bakery. Bakery items for eating on site or to go include apple turnovers, apple/walnut/raisin muffins, apple and pumpkin pies. Apple pies are offered as frozen Take-N-Bake also. |
